Using this silk burnout velvet fabric took me in a little different direction than the other Curl lampshades I have designed in the past. When I selected  this particular fabric, I originally thought of complementing it with pleats and rosettes as I have done before, but when I actually laid this fabric over the frame, it just seemed to call for something different. I wanted to maximize the abstract design in this fabric!
 
It is variegated shades of light and darker smokey blue.  I used a blue silk midlining for a nice, cool, and soothing look both off and lighted.   The beads under the large panels on the cuff highlight the blends of color in the fabric.  I was very pleased with the final look!   ~ Kathy Whitham
