The Genie shade is a richly expressive piece, its form and color recalling the romance of a “genie in a bottle” silhouette. The top panels are executed in a burnout silk velvet, blending tones of deep eggplant, antique gold, and a soft coral blush that shifts gently with the light.
Beneath these, the lower panels are fashioned from a rich silk velvet, chosen to draw out and deepen the tones found in the burnout velvet above, creating a sense of continuity and depth throughout the design.
Each vertical panel is defined by an eggplant ribbon trim, overlaid with a delicate metallic gold accent, lending both structure and refinement. Horizontal bands at the top, center, and lower portions of the shade are finished with a scalloped braid in eggplant, subtly flecked with metallic threads that catch the light.
At the base of each panel, eggplant appliqués provide a dimensional transition to the fringe below. The lower edge is adorned with a shimmering curtain of faceted, crystal-cut beads in an iridescent eggplant tone, creating movement and a jewel-like finish.
The shade is fully lined and mid-lined, allowing it to cast a warm, ambient glow that enhances the richness of the velvet and the depth of the colors.
It is paired with a lamp thoughtfully chosen to echo the character of the shade—its form reminiscent of a classic genie vessel. The finial above mirrors the appliqué detailing found on the lower panels, completing the design with a sense of continuity and intention.
