The Garden Shade is a truly one-of-a-kind creation, handcrafted in the richly ornamented style of the late Victorian era and the turn of the 20th century.
This magnificent eight-panel shade is covered in vintage brown silk velvet. Six panels feature an elaborate embroidered design, while the remaining two use a simpler portion of the same fabric, adding subtle variety and visual interest. The embroidery is worked in a warm straw-gold color, beautifully complemented by intricately woven straw-gold gimp trim outlining each panel.
The interior is fully lined with patterned silk fabric. A luxurious seven-inch light-gold rayon fringe surrounds the bottom of the shade, overlaid with scalloped brown-and-gold beaded fringe for additional movement, texture, and sparkle.
When illuminated, most of the light is directed downward through the generous bottom opening. In a darkened room, the velvet panels also produce a very subtle, warm glow, creating an especially rich and atmospheric effect.
This shade would be an exceptional choice for a large floor lamp or substantial table lamp. Its graceful form, opulent materials, and ornate detailing strongly recall the beautiful decorative lampshades found in Victorian homes around the turn of the last century.
