The Lassie Shade
A Study in Soft Color and Enduring Form
Some designs remain, not because they are repeated, but because they invite reinterpretation. The Lassie frame is one such form.
Originally brought to us as a recover, its graceful lines and quiet elegance left a lasting impression. Since that time, it has been revisited again and again—each version distinct, shaped by the fabrics and trims chosen for it. Its character is remarkably versatile, capable of transformation while retaining its unmistakable silhouette.
In this interpretation, the Lassie is rendered in a palette of soft pastels. The ground is a gentle, muted blue, upon which delicate rose motifs unfold in tones of cream and pale rose pink, touched here and there with the faintest glimmer of light gold.
The trim is an ecru braid separating each panel, lending quiet structure to the design.
The fringe is a seven-inch silky fringe in pale light peachy pink with a custom-dyed trim along the top of the fringe, introducing movement and a soft warmth to the piece.
The shade is fully lined in silk charmeuse, allowing it to emit a soft, diffused glow—gentle and inviting rather than bright, as though the light itself has been softened to match the palette.
It is paired with a shabby chic table lamp in cream and gold, adorned with rose motifs along the base and the column that rises from it. Near the top, a lotus-like cluster forms the double-socket fixture, from which two bulbs descend, adding both light and sculptural interest. A matching finial completes the form above.
Together, the shade and lamp create a harmonious composition—each enhancing the other, unified in tone, line, and quiet romantic character.
