Grace — Crimson and Black, in Velvet and Lace
Inspired by the Necklines and Embellishments of Edwardian Dress
There is a quiet refinement in Grace, a piece inspired by the graceful lines of Victorian and Edwardian dress—the gentle curve of a neckline, the structure of a shoulder, and the ornament that once adorned them.
The side panels are formed from burnout silk velvet in rich crimson tones, layered with black beaded silk velvet, creating depth and contrast as the pattern emerges through the light. The effect is both soft and dramatic, reminiscent of evening fabrics from another era.
At the center, a panel of beaded lace draws the eye, framed in velvet ribbon trim that is echoed again just above the fringe, uniting the composition with a sense of balance and intention.
Near the crown, antique chenille flowers, delicately adorned with beads, are placed at the upper intersections, offering a subtle nod to hand-finished embellishments found on period garments.
Along the lower edge, long, slender glass beads in crimson and black fall in a graceful fringe, delicate in movement and rich in tone. Above them, a shorter tassel fringe is suspended from a crisscrossed beaded network, adding texture and a layered sense of motion.
Fully lined in silk charmeuse, Grace emits a warm, intimate glow. It is a piece that feels both ornamental and expressive—an homage to the elegance of dress, translated into light, and perfectly suited to a setting of quiet romance.
